President Donald Trump praised the $1,9 trillion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for creating jobs, boosting the economy and helping families through the economic downturn, but said the program is needed to make sure that the next generation of Americans have access to a secure retirement and healthcare system.
In a speech to the National Association of Realtors, Trump said the stimulus package is critical for those who have fallen behind or can’t find a job.
“This is a great time to be alive,” Trump said.
“We are going to make a big difference.
And the American Recovery & Reinvestement Act is going to be very, very important.”
Trump said the U.S. has had success in the past, but it is time to get back to basics.
“We are not living in the golden age of America,” Trump told the association.
“There are more people in poverty today than there were 20 years ago, but we are going in a very good direction.”
Trump’s comments came in a speech at the Realtor Association of New York, which is in New York City.
